WORLD RENOWNED CELLO QUARTET TO PERFORM IN FALLBROOK

Fallbrook, CA – A cello quartet?  Contrary to what one might imagine, this group is exhilarating and to say that their performances are breathtaking is an understatement.  The Rastrelli Cello Quartet, from St. Petersburg Russia and currently residing in Germany, will make a stop at Fallbrook’s Mission Theater on Sunday, October 22, at 2 p.m. as part of their 2023 North American tour.

Bob Freaney, President of Fallbrook Music Society, says “These remarkable musicians have such diverse sounds they make you think of a classical symphony one minute, then they sound like an old piano playing ragtime, a saxophone from the Big Band Era or even a polka the next.”  “They bring an entirely new dimension to everything they play,” he added.

The musicians perform only music they themselves love, and they have built a broad and unique repertoire that just can’t be found anywhere else.  The quartet’s thundering orchestral sound and showy virtuosity are exciting and combined with their humor, provides for a wonderful concert experience – delighting audiences worldwide.

The four musicians began working together in 2002, and for the past 21 years they have devoted themselves to exploring and experiencing the cello’s world of sound.  They are committed to tradition, but completely uncoupled from the conventional approach, which only serves as a solid foundation.  The ensemble has a unique and broad repertoire, the likes of which can’t be found anywhere else.  The art of transformation becomes, without exception, an authentic adventure in sound for the listener.

The Rastrelli Cello Quartet has been a guest on festival stages, concert halls and radio stations worldwide.  They have recorded 8 CD’s to date, which present very different styles of music and give an extensive survey of the repertoire of the ensemble.

This concert is free for all attendees, and no reservations are required.  Donations are always welcome to help support Fallbrook Music Society’s tradition of delivering excellence in live music performances to Fallbrook and its surrounding communities.  The concert will be held on Sunday, October 22 at 2:00 p.m. in Fallbrook’s historic Mission Theater, 231 N. Main Avenue.  For more information: www.fallbrookmusicsociety.org.
